What is carpal tunnel syndrome?

Carpal tunnel syndrome is a common injury that is caused when the median nerve in the forearm becomes pressed and restricted causing tingling and numbness in the palm and fingers. Some individuals experience pain while others experience loss in strength.

What are the causes of carpal tunnel?

Carpal tunnel is caused by repetitive motions that increase pressure on the median nerve as well as the tendons in the carpal tunnel. CTS is more prevalent in some individuals then others. Individuals who sit for long periods at a desk typing, and are not sitting with he proper posture may cause pressure on the nerve as well as individuals who write constantly are more exposed to this injury. Women are three times more likely  than men to develop CTS and usually only occurs in adults
